Adoption is a process whereby a person assumes the parenting for another who is not kin and, in so doing, permanently transfers all rights and responsibilities from the original parent or parents. Unlike guardianship or fostering, adoption is intended to effect a permanent change. We apply this to adoption of pets too.
Therefore we have a process for it. We do not want people to assume that if they offer to adopt we will give them the pet. If you are ready for adoption be ready for a screening process. We will ensure that the decision to give the pet for adoption is in the best interest of the pet.
Hence there will be a lot of questions asked viz.
- Where you live?
- Where you will keep the pet?
- Who is available to take care of the pet 24X7? Though we understand that they might not need it all the time.
- What is your family structure? Whether there are kids, elders?
- Many more...
Besides we will decide on certain observation we make about your interaction with the pet, if you are ready to adopt especially if you have not lived with pets before. In some cases we might give you the opportunity to foster for a while and then take a decision for adoption. The final decision lies with us.
It will be a grilling experience for some but you will have to go through it. Please do not keep hopes that you will anyways get a pet for adoption.
Please respect the process we have set. Karthik has a lot of experience with pets and in dealing with people who come for adoption. So his decision will be the final one.
This is not a final procedure it will evolve as we grow.
